Etsy Finds: I Love the 80's

I love the 80's.

I love them so much that I've spent the entire morning trying to find the words to describe my feelings.

I haven't come up with much:

If I could have gotten a college degree in the 80's, I would have.
However, I was, like, 2 years-old in the 80's, so I would have been a really f'ing smart baby.
I'd been the most knowledged person in all things 80's and blow you away with my comprehension of Prince's discography and other things like that.
Can you imagine a 2 year-old who can sing every single Prince song?
I didn't think so.

That's about as much as I could come up with.

In lieu of what words can't describe, please check out these awesome 80's finds on Etsy:

You're the Hall to my Oates. $5

The closest I will ever get to that hot, bristly goodness. $16

For when my honey and I get married. $35

Haven't you always wanted a bunch of little,
tiny Michaels adorning the walls of your Crate & Barrel catalog home? $10.99

This one defies words $17.95

To use while eating your favorite Rocky Road ice cream. $15

"Gozer the Traveler. He will come in one of the pre-chosen forms. During the rectification of the Vuldrini, the traveler came as a large and moving Torg! Then, during the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants, they chose a new form for him: that of a giant Slor! Many Shuvs and Zuuls knew what it was to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!" $30

Neal: Del... Why did you kiss my ear?
Del: Why are you holding my hand?
Neal:[frowns] Where's your other hand?
Del: Between two pillows...
Neal; Those aren't pillows!
$11.99

Well fuck you, for sure, like totally! $200

The cutest part of Labyrinth (outside of David Bowie's package). $45

I _____ Crispin Glover. $25.99

Maybe my new favorite artist. $15

Who needs paper dolls? I still dress up as Bowie. At night. In the dark. Alone. $18

Stache anything is perhaps the most brilliant of all... but they all are!

People try to tell me that I'm lucky to be living in NYC post-'80s. "boo-hoo, prostitutes, drug addicts, boo-hoo, abandoned buildings." The Eighties must have been glorious.

i, too, wish i had lived a bit longer in the 80's...

i would have spent a weekend at bernie's, caused big trouble in little china, and stood outside in the purple rain.

oh cruel world!

@linda- ha! how was the dream?

@girl- and joined a breakfast club?

@tsar- he is soooo good in it...but not as good as his role in peggy sue got married. f'ing LOVE him in that!

The 80s were so much better if you didn't actually live through them...

Inspired. I want the chunk bowl so bad. Like you I was too young to really "live" the Eighties, but since I had two older brothers I got their Eighties hand-me-downs, both actual items, film tips and music knowledge. Wish I sill had my leg warmers collection. Doubt they would fit though.

Well, I've officially lived long enough to see my high school/college days become an era of nostalgia. It's a shame I didn't keep any of the crap I used to own back then to sell on eBay for big bucks! At least I still have the goofy pictures.

P.S. I'd rather have matured in the Swingin' 70's. The eighties are when AIDS was first identified, and it pretty much put an end to all that "free love" stuff.

That is the best rendering of a Back to the Future scene ever! I can't believe they're only asking $15 for it.

At 12:37 PM, Blogger Hipstercrite said...

@Ray- That may be a good point...

@Corte- You can always go to American Apparel!

@Bard- Who ever thinks that the shit they own at the time turns into something that people want down the road?

@Amber- Did you check out the other drawings in their store?

Honey, I was a teenage girl in the 80's... It wasn't all that. It was whatever your teenage years were to you. Sorry to break it to ya.
Of course, I do occasionally spend hours re-watching John Hughes films and, occasionally, throw on a pair of leg warmers and/or plastic bracelets, at home, but never alone ;)

hahaha, I was in high school in the 80s! after school cruisin in my beat up 71 mach 1 mustang, getting high, and then watching MTV for hours...
I was the first person in my class to have a tattoo, and paint my nails black and wear black lipstick for parties. I had big hair and big earrings, had Prince's Controversy Pin up poster; went to my first concert, Blondie at 13, wearing ripped jeans and a bandana! Olivia Newton John's Physical style...lol
I really wanted Rod Stewart's hair.
Wore jellies when they first came out. Oh the Memories.

The greatest thing about Prince, is there is no comprehension.
It's just all about the grOOve.

You would have been Brilliant in the 80s!

The 80's were a little more fun than the 90's, but had striking similarities. Terrible but catchy pop music, an witless president with a bumbling cabinet and as much agnst as you could hold.

I think that you would have thrived then. Just something about you and your 'you-ness' makes me say that.

Speaking of revisiting the 80s, I thought I'd have seen a review of "Imperial Bedrooms" on here by now. Any chance?

Whaaa? Was that John Cusack in Say Anything holding up Tom Sellecks moustache, or are my eyes just not working?

Valley Girl is too much goodness in one movie. They just don't make them like that anymore. ;)

At 9:21 PM, Blogger amy said...

Pure goodness!

In related news: Up until last year, I thought it was "Hollow Notes."

At 9:52 PM, Blogger Hipstercrite said...

@Ms Amanda- Yes, I've heard that from people who were adults in the 80's. In fact, most of them try to distance themselves from their 80's selves as much as they can.

@Kelly Ann- Oh my God! You sounded like the most amazing child/teenager. I'm jealous!

@Mark- HA! Thanks! Well, I did thrive as a 0-7 year old, I guess?

@Catch-22- I DID! You must have missed it. I should probably tag it if I haven't!

@Tabitha- You did see right. Isn't that amazing?!?

@Claire- It's very true. I love that movie because it makes me nostalgic for an LA I never experienced.

@Amy- HA! Really?!
