So I was in Palm Springs this weekend...

I saw THIS!

And I saw THIS!

(I just realize that this could look like anything- a steaming pile of horse shit, a blurry photo of cauliflower...but it's actually the hillside on fire. This fire ended up killing four firemen.)

Buy a little piece of Arrested Development heaven...

Fox is selling props and wardrobe from AD...
Guess that means the show really is dead (I was holding out naive hope!)

Restaurant review: La Scala

Spent the longest amount of time ever in Beverly Hills the other day (roughly 3 hours). Ate dinner with very enjoyable company at La Scala 434 Canon Dr. up in the B of H. (According to Yahoo it's at 410 Canon but I stood confused standing in front of 410 because it's Drago's. La Scala was a few doors down, so I think I'm right and Yahoo is wrong. It's up to you to decide).
Gotta say, food was mighty good. Guess the restaurant is known for their Chopped Salad. It was a mighty fine chopped salad fo' sure. Little bits of salami and mozzarella...mmmmm. For dinner we had a giant fried glob of cheese (no kidding) and is a giant glob of friend cheese never NOT tasty? Hell, is a fried glob of ANYTHING never NOT tasty? You could fry trash and it would taste yummy. For dessert we had a big glob of chocolate cake too!
Atmosphere is pleasant. Kind of old school Beverly Hills. Romantic (so guys don't bring your guy friends here). Has the air of...what's that restaurant in MUPPETS TAKE MANHATTAN called? Sardi's? (according to Wikipedia, that is accurate)
All in all, it was a mighty fine experience. If you're watching your wallets and asses then I wouldn't go there.

p.s. that's a random picture of Italian food up above, not a picture of La Scala's food- so don't be going there and expecting to get a dish like that!

The better side of L.A...

Just discovered this little gem...
Some very well-researched Angelenos have a blog and subsequent tours chronicling all the juicy crimes and murders of L.A. over the past 100 years or so.
The site is called 1947project and you can find out more about what they do here.

Quick, if you're interested in doing their Halloween tours this weekend, act fast for tickets are selling out. Tickets go for $47. From 1-6PM on Saturday and Sunday you will be driven around and shown locations and pictures of some of the nastiest L.A. crimes in history.
Enjoy!

Me and my childhood hero

He still is my hero... one of the most creative people in the business!

This photo was taken at the premiere of David Arquette's new movie THE TRIPPER starring Jamie King, Lukas Haas, Jason Mewes, and Paul Reubens. Purposely cheesy horror movie with politcal undertones. Nothing like watching Ronald Reagan hack people up with an axe!

In this episode: Craiglist, The Brewery, and Edendale Grill

-only in L.A. baby...

-I checked out Downtown's art colony "The Brewery" this Sunday for their bi-annula open house. It was like another world. Old factory buildings from the turn of the century turned into artists living/working studios. It was great. I think I was more fascinated by the colony than the artists' work (though there are a couple of really good artists...will give a shout out later when I dig up my artist postcards I grabbed and shoved into my purse). Check it out. Nice little break from La-la land.

-I ate at the Edendale Grill in Silverlake for the first time this weekend. Felt like trying something new and read up on it's fascinating history (was a firehouse dating back to 1924 and many silent films were shot nearby). The atmosphere is intriguing and comforting and food delicious. I was a little surprised at first of the prices and small menu but regardless my meal was excellent (Entrees are around$20-28). Try the casear salad they make right at your table (raw egg, anchovy paste and everything!) and the porkchops with squash and some sort of creamy pumpkin-y sauce. Top it off with the creme brulee! I recommend the Edendale Grill for something new and exciting and definitely yummy (just bet on spending at least $75+ for two).

Blah blah blah

-What can The Muppets not do? "Muppets teach Afghan children about land mines"

-According to LA Weekly, this is the "best place to find a dead clown"

-An eloquent summary of all the women this man has slept with posted via Craigslist.

-Discovered a little unknown gem of a site the other day. Check this site out, you may like it.

OH MY GOD! I want a Bob Mackie gown worn by Cher circa 1975

Ok, this is old news so there is nothing you can do about it now, but Cher was selling a butt load of her crap yesterday. In that, were dozens of Bob Mackie gowns she wore on THE SONNY AND CHER SHOW.
I was very close to getting into further debt.
I'm not a Cher fan but for some reason I wanted one of those dresses badly.
Cher was amazing looking in the 1970's. Pre-surgery, she was extremely beautiful in an exotic way and had spunk that made her even more attractive.
I want to look like that.
I would wear that dress (and can't forget a large hairpiece as well) EVERY SINGLE DAY.

OK...so I got lazy

A lot of crap happened in my life- broken heart, left job, planned trip back-packing Europe, got new job blah blah blah. Same ol' shit that happens to most 23 year-old peoples living in L.A.
However, I've been inspired again to start writing on the blog after spending all day reading LA Weekly online.
So I'm planning on having a lot more to come...

not that anyone out there reads this....
